a tale of two cowls.

while in salt lake city for sewing summit, i was totally inspired by amanda (of hey, porkchop!) to start a new knitting project. not only is she a mini quilt superstar, but amanda also knits the most beautiful things! in fact at one point in the weekend, she had an entire group of ladies inspired to knit their own cowls. she's.just.that.cool. :)

completely excited to knit a cowl of my own, i stopped by a fun little yarn shop (hours before my flight home) and stocked up on some yarn. and about as soon as i landed back in iowa i started knitting my first honey cowl (pattern by madelinetosh) if you are into knitting, it's a free pattern! i chose to make the larger version, which called for 2 skeins of yarn. i used a 100% baby alpaca yarn (chunky) by Cascade Yarns and i love how rich and vibrant the colors are -- totally reminding me of the changing of the leaves in the fall!

in no time at all i was done with  cowl number 1 and number 2!  i grew up knitting and i had honestly forgotten how relaxing it is. mmmm, knitting in the round! i'm hoping to make a few more of these this winter for myself as well as for christmas gifts -- especially considering my sister snatched up the plum one after helping me with this cowl photo shoot. :)

i hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

  1. Beautiful! I can't wear yellow, but between what you & Jacey have shared lately I may have to make an attempt on that gorgeous mustard color. :)

  5. Hi Megan! I'm happy to see you knitting and your new cowl is wonderful! We just can't have too many of them! I feel so cold and I'm also knitting a scarf.

  6. They are both gorgeous! Keep changing my mind about which colour I like best! I have managed to crochet a cowl which I really like, but I'd love to be able to knit
