i [heart] instagram.

tap, tap, tap.
is this thing on?
good grief it's been a while since i've blogged.
seems like i've had lots of things to blog about, just no time to sit down and do it.
you feeling me?

any who, how's everyone doing?
i honestly miss chatting+connecting+sharing with you all on the blog.
so today i thought i'd share some instagram pictures from the last week or so.

^^as much as i'd like to take credit for this stinking adorable
embroidery finish, it was actually stitched by my talented little sister.
seriously, how cute (and tiny!) is this?!
<3 <3 <3

^^i love this time of year. the warm weather, the sunshine,
and the straight corn rows.
yep, complete Iowa girl here.
^^wanna know my favorite place to relax during the summer?
it's right here, on the front porch!

^^my parents celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary over the
4th of July holiday! <3 they took a few days off and sewed together.
she pins & presses, he sews (and rocks at it!).
talk about true love!

^^it seems like much of the US had record setting temperatures
last week -- Iowa included! the heat index reached well over 110 degrees F
some days. those temperatures combined with the humidity made for
some hot summer days.

^^given that the temperatures were so crazy HOT, we actually spent most of
our 4th of July indoors. but i'm not complaining,
that just meant uninterrupted sewing time in the A/C!

^^see, i have actually been sewing. :)
check back tomorrow for a quilty finish and full tutorial!

^^hand stitching the binding = the best part of quilting.
i just love it!

^^i spent a 10 day stretch house sitting+hanging out with this little guy.
he slept, i stitched. talk about match made in heaven!

^^pulled out a WiP last week.

^^speaking of finishing things up, you all should join the #finishitjuly
party on instagram+twitter. finishing up old WiPs is way more fun with friends!

^^target rocks. enough said.

^^the count down to Sewing Summit 2012 is on!
t-minus 3 months.

^^it's county fair time!
this year our little Iowa fair has a barn quilt display.

i think that gets you all caught up on what's gong on in my life.
instagram style.

now tell me, what have you been up to this summer?
xo, megan.

  1. 1. Love to hand stitch bindings too!
    2. Wish I were going to Sewing Summit.
    3. Can't wait to see that completed quilt.
    4. Had a baby 36 hours ago. Gonna love on him this summer. :-D
    5. He should be ready to enjoy our county fairs when they roll around!

  2. Hand stitching binding with a cute pup all snuggled up - so perfect. I treasure that last little bonding time with the quilt. Your projects look amazing.
I hope we're in a class together or get to meet up at Sewing Summit - I don't really know people going but love your Modern Mondays and blog.
    (Jenny - 36 hrs.. congrats)

  3. I love hand sewing bindings! Lately - I visited a cool quilt store in White Bear Lake, MN, and have been embroidering a present for a friend getting married in a couple weeks, re-learning to sew some clothes (shorts for me), making blocks for my friend's Road Trip Quilt-a-long, machine quilting a twin quilt for my daughter, and hand quilting a grandma's flower garden quilt top that was made years ago by my husband's grandmother. (And yes, I did at least a little of all of that in the past week - I get bored with just one project going one!)

Speaking of quilt shops... do you buy all your fabric online or do you know of local (NE Iowa/SW Wisc/Southern MN) that carry lots of modern fabrics?

  4. I want your porch!! See you in October!

  5. i love postcards or blogs! i am in love with what you are working on in green with the seeds FMF for binding. what is that?

  6. Wow such great snaps of what you've been up to! Those sewing projects look interesting! I'll be on the watch for more updates on those! =D

  7. We have apparently skipped summer and are already in winter again! Not happy x

  8. Megan,

I have enjoyed your blog and instragram. What part of Iowa are you from. My Aunt/Uncle/cousins live in Davenport and it is a lovely community. I am keeping up with my soon to be 13 year old and a 10 year old girls. I am trying to piece together two quilts, work on a hex I quilt at night. Busy. Continue with your great work.

  9. Love your thimble. I've never seen a patterned one. Where did you get it?

  10. Cute little embroidery! And love the star blocks -- and your quilt with the lime green (?) colors! I just recently discovered your blog and it is great inspiration for me (a very beginning quilter)! Thanks!
