{sew} modern monday

{Sew} Modern Monday at Canoe Ridge Creations

it's {sew} modern monday time!

rwb1

this week's finish is brought to you straight from the unfinished projects pile! with things slowing down at work, leaving more free time for creativity, my sewing mojo is at an all time high. and i am taking full advantage of it, starting with my UFOs. first up, my red, white, and blue quilt. this quilt top was one of my first sewing finishes i blogged about when i started canoe ridge creations about a year ago.

inspired by this quilt from Oh, Fransson!, i set out to design a summer picnic quilt of my own using The Hamptons fabric line from Moda. i wasn't totally confident in my home basting and quilting skills at the time (up until then, i had quilted most of my own quilts on a long arm quilting machine) so i tucked it away. and there is sat until this past week.

to be honest, i just reached a point where i wanted this quilt finished! so i quilted it using organic wavy lines, sewed the binding on by machine, washed it, and called it a day. now it feels great to have it in my completed pile and the BF has already claimed it as his own!

  1. What a beautiful finish! I love all of your projects and they always inspire! I really love the colors on this one and the quilting. I think I will have to try that wavy line quilting on a project.

  14. I really like the overall layout of this quilt Megan, the empty center makes a nice composition. :)

I wanted to have a finish for today's linkup so badly, but I just don't think the quilt I'm working on is "done" yet ... ugh.. However, congrats to all who did accomplish something this week!

  16. Ok, I'm way into the wavy lines quilting. That turned out so great! I'm going to file that away for future quilting ;-) Now I just need to finish some tops!
